Good Will Hunting

This movie was released in January of 1998, starring Robin Williams, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Casey Affleck, Minnie Driver and others. This movie has earned 5 stars.

Good Will Hunting is a story about Will Hunting (Matt Damon), who is insanely intelligent, and has a genius IQ level. For some reason he chose to work as janitor, but once he solves a very difficult math equation Professor Gerald becomes very interested in him. Will then gets arrested, and the professor makes a deal to keep him out of jail which was that he goes to see therapist Sean Maguire (Robin Williams), which puts everything about Will into perspective.

This movie is definitely one of my favourites, I had watched it with my dad because he constantly told me that it was amazing and that I HAD to see it. I have always been a fan of Robin Williams since I was very young, and Matt Damon began to interest me as an actor after previous movies I had seen (We bought a zoo). These two actors worked amazingly together, every scene seemed completely real, emotionally they seem to make the movie more interesting.

I love the several quotes said by Robin Williams throughout the movie for example: "You don't know about real loss because that only occurs when you love something more than yourself." which really made me open my eyes to how lucky I am and I don't even realize it.

There are also some hilarious scenes throught the movie between Will and his friends. Some of these scenes consist a lot of swearing, this movie is not meant for children. To watch this a sense of maturity is necessary:
In my opinion this movie is a 10 out of 10.

Soul Surfer

This movie was released in April of 2011, starring, Anna Sophia Robb, Carrie Underwood, Helen Hunt, Dennis Quaid, Lorianne Nicholson, Jeremy Sumpter and more. The movie has earned 4 stars.

Soul Surfer is the story of Bethany Hamilton an amazing surfer, who lives in a happy and supportive family of 5. One day while she was out on the water with family and friends she was attacked by a shark and lost her arm. After being in the hospital and recovering from all the blood loss, she decides she still wants to surf and has to defeat the odds.

This movie is inspirational, it shows that everyone is capable of doing what they desire if, they have determination and patience. It sends a great message to people of all ages, also it gives handicapped kids someone/something to look forward to. There are also many inspiring quotes throughout the movie such as `"I don't know why terrible things happen to us sometimes, but I have to believe that something good is going to come out of this" which was said by Sarah Hill (Carrie Underwood) indicating that in some situations it is important to keep faith. "I don't need easy, I just need possible."- Bethany Hamilton indicating that if there is something you really want to do even if you have the slightest chance of accomplishing it to still go for it even if it won't be "easy".

There are two things well known in this movie the actors and the soundtrack. The actors have been in multiple other movies, Anna Sophia Robb, Helen Hunt and Denis Quaid are all very well known and experienced actors. The actors made me more emotionally connected to this movie.

The scenery is absolutely gorgeous in this movie since it was filmed in the state of Hawaii. After watching this movie I had the undeniable desire to go to Hawaii or anywhere tropical.

This movie in my opinion, is a 9 out of 10.

Daddy Day Care

This movie was released in 2003 starring Eddie Murphy, Jeff Garlin, Angelica Huston, Steve Zahn, Khamani Griffin, Regina King, Elle Fanning and many others. This movie has earned three stars.

Daddy day care is about a man named Charlie Hinton who looses his job. He decides to open a day care inside of his and his wifes house,  in order to earn money for his family and to spend more time with his son. He does not notice all the difficulties, payments, and requirements it takes to open a day care. He has help from his friend Phil who also lost his job. Phil and Charlie realize that they are in competion with another day care, which causes more uneeded problems.

This movie was very popular when I was around 4 to 5 years old and was something I would always watch with my parents. It is a movie that blends adult and child humour together making it a "family movie". The story of the movie is well planned out. It also takes away the stereotype of women being more of caretakers  than man since the two owners of the day care are men.

Throughout all the jokes there is also some seriousness, such as the fact that charlie is trying to win over his son who he doesn't spend much time with, teaching a lesson that it is important to have a bond with your children. He also struggles with the fact that he lost his job and how he needs to get a new one fast, which shows how sometimes greater things come out of our downfalls.

The soundtrack of the movie are song well known to everyone and also songs that I quite enjoyed, such as ABC, walking on sunshine and ballroom blitz. These songs are all pretty upbeat and happy because of the fact that this is a child friendly movie and also a happy movie. The music puts people in a good mood.

Daddy Day Care is a movie that will instantly put you in a good mood beacause of all the cute children, the great music and the funny jokes throughout it all.

In my opinion this movie is an 8 out of 10.

The Outsiders

This movie was released in 1983 starring, C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, Diane Lane, Ralph Macchio, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, Emilio Estevez, Tom Cruise and others. This movie has earned 3 stars.

The outsiders movie is based on the popular novel "The Outsiders" written by S.E. Hinton and published in 1967. This was a novel that I read in 8th grade and one of the only books that I was forced to read that I actually enjoyed. I then had to see the movie.

The Outsiders, is a movie about the rivalry between the greasers and the socs which are two gangs in Oklahoma. There constant remarks and little arguments towards and with each other lead up to a big brawl between the two gangs. In the end of the brawl things end very badly and the two main character (Pony boy and Johnny), are forced to run away in order to avoid bigger problems. This causes a lot of commotion for everyone and a hard trip for the boys.

This movie shows many struggles, struggles that the poor have which refers to the greasers and struggles that the rich have, the socs (which is rare), but the movie captures problems that richer folk have to deal with. There are also other struggles this movie shows, such as struggles with relationships between family, friend or dating. It goes into detail of each situation which make the viewers more attached to the characters.

Since this is an older movie I find it interesting how different it is from now especially the way they talk, dress and the cars they drive. There are many serious scenes and a few jokes every now and then. The movie is constantly exciting and will keep you interested, there are plot twist which add to the intensity of the movie.

The soundtrack also goes well with the movie, in each scene for example the brawl the music matches well, it also stops and starts at the perfect moments to add suspense or dramatics.

This movie is a 10 out of 10 in my opinion.

Dodge Ball

This hilarious movie was released in 2004, and stars many common actors, such as Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, Justin Long, Rip Torn and many more. This movie has earned 4 stars.

Dodge Ball is an insanely funny movie about a rivalry between two gym's that are across the street from each other, Global fitness owned by White Goodman (which is very big and successful with many customers) vs Average joes owned by Peter La Fleur ( a smaller business with only very few customers). Later, Peter descovers that his gym will be closing down if he does not earn enough money it keep it going. His customers get together and offer him a way to earn the money, but they must all enter as a team into a dodge ball tournament and they have to win. Of course, once White finds out they're plan he signs up as well to try and assure that they loose.

This movie is full of jokes, there is not a dull moment, they have also chosen some of the best comedic actors in our century. Ben Stiller who stars in other comedic movies such as Madagascar, Meet the fockers, The watch, Zoolander etc. and Vince Vaughn who stars in The watch, The internship, Wedding crashers, couples retreat etc. Both of these actors are well known for their acting and keep up well with each other comedicaly in this movie.

Dodgeball also shows a valuable lesson which is to defeat the odds. In this movie the odds are against them and they are known as the "underdogs" so they go through desperate measures to try and prove themselves. Some people are handed things and others have to work for it, Average Joes had to work in order to have even the slightest chance at winning the tournament. The odds might not always be in your favour, but it is only you who has the power to change that.

The storyline is unique and so unlike any movie      I've ever seen. There is a rivalry based on who          has the better gym and the battle in order to              determine a winner is a dodgeball tournament,        because of the story line the movie becomes more    interesting.

This movie is an 8 out of 10.

We bought a zoo

This is honestly one of the cutest movies I have ever seen that I watched with my family, starring Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson, Colin Ford, Maggie Elizabeth Jones and others, this movie came to theaters in 2011. This movie has earned 3 stars.

“We bought a zoo” is about a father of two that loses his wife to cancer, and is trying to get his life together again and help himself and his family move on by moving, and ends up buying a zoo, then realizes he was in for more than he thought.
This movie is of course emotional, because how could it not be as soon as someone says the word cancer everyone shutters. It is very hard to bring up or even speak of something that is real and affects so many lives, this movie shows the struggle of a single parent, the struggle of the father trying to stay strong for his children, and the children trying to move on from the death of their mom. Death is real and scary, so this will touch the heart of anyone who watches it.

The girl in this movie is absolutely adorable and she is such a great actor, she could be the only reason to fall in love with this movie. This movie also talks about how he fell in love with his wife, and one of the things that stuck out the most to me in this movie is when he said "You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you something great will come of it."because it is one of the best pieces of advice I have ever heard. 20 seconds could be all you need to make or break a situation.

This movie is so interesting because they bought a zoo and now they have to maintain it and reopen it, also the scenery is beautiful, it looks as if they live in the country.

This movie is a 9 out of 10 in my opinion.
